McCulloch Center Launches Blog of Student Experience
As many of you know, the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives is Mount Holyoke College‘s international affairs office. On the student side, the McCulloch Center offers students international study abroad and internship opportunities while helping international students acclimate to life in the United States and at Mount Holyoke.
Just three weeks ago, the McCulloch Center launched their Tumblr page documenting the student experience which you can find here. Currently run by the McCulloch Center’s Program Assistants, Allyson Chew (’13) and Zenya Molnar (’13), this page is a tool for not only connecting students, but also for archiving the authentic student experience. Students may visit the site to view photos and videos about various abroad destinations and internships. The blog will also be updated with short blurbs about upcoming events and summaries of such events, such as the social media lunch party last Thursday evening,.
For prospective study abroad students, the blog is the central location to peruse student photos, videos, and quotes from those who have studied in various countries from France to Argentina and from South Africa to China.
For students who have been abroad, they can view their friends’ contributions in one central location instead of combing through individual Facebook profiles.
But that’s not all! For students who are currently abroad, the center will follow their blogs to reblog any content that demonstrates the student experience. The center will also accept student submissions to post onto the blog.
Currently, the blog is run for students by students to document the student experience. If you have any photos or comments about your abroad experience and would like to share it, you can email Allyson at chew22a@mtholyoke.edu, or Zenya at molna22z@mtholyoke.edu.
We’re looking for photos of landscapes and cityscapes, as well as fun photos of you and your friends. As for comments or quotes, we’re looking for short statements (2-4 sentences) about what made your time special or a defining moment. Please feel free to submit as many photos and comments are you would like.
