Do you want a job after graduation? Do you want to dump your student loan debt as fast as possible? Do you want to live in an America you can be proud of? If so, it’s in your best interest to check out the movement #FixYoungAmerica.
#FixYoungAmerica is a movement recently started and spearheaded by the Young Entrepreneur’s Council, a non-profit organization that wants to solve the problem of youth unemployment. After all, as founder Scott Gerber (founder of the YEC) points out, “Recent college graduates and young veterans face the worst job market in 60 years”, and “Student loan debt is nearing a trillion dollars” (http://www.finaid.org/loans/studentloandebtclock.phtml).
So, we don’t appear to be in such great shape right now.
How does the YEC (Young Entrepreneur’s Council) seek to remedy this? Well, they have a book out that details some of their ideas (http://www.indiegogo.com/FixYoungAmerica) and they also want to utilize social media to spread awareness of the problem (http://fixyoungamerica.com), but there is one bigger solution they have in mind.
These guys want to recruit Stephen Colbert to the cause. To this end, they have organized rallies at over 300 colleges across all 50 states, and pictures and videos from them will be posted to MTV.com (http://fixyoungamerica.com/rally). With enough media attention, YEC hopes that Stephen Colbert will help champion the cause to help fix youth unemployment in America.
In a nutshell, here’s how you can fix one of the biggest problems in America (second only to bears, according to Colbert)
- Attend your local rally—Get some buzz going at your college newspaper and local TV stations!
- Share messages on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites—Get the word out to your friends, so they can help as well!
- Check out the book—Get the statistics and ideas that are really going to help this problem.
- Donate—The movement has reached its $30,000 goal, so this is less important, but every little bit helps.
Let’s get out and #FixYoungAmerica.
